Alulminum alloy 2024 is a typical duralumin alloy-Al-Mg-Cu aluminum alloy, with 4.5% copper, 0.6% manganese and 1.5% magnesium. It is of reasonable composition and good overall performance. 2024 aluminum also features high strength, a certain degree of heat resistance, can be used as working parts below 150 ℃.
When the temperature is higher than 125 ℃, its strength is higher than that of 7075 aluminum plate. The forming performance is better in the hot temper, annealing and new quenching state, and the heat treatment strengthening effect is significant, but the heat treatment process requirements are strict.

Its common tempers are T3 and T4. They have high plasticity, fatigue resistance and toughness, but have poor corrosion resistance. 2024 aluminum thick plates are mainly used on fuselages, wings, ribs, and other structural parts that require high strength.
After artificial aging, 2024 alloy has excellent comprehensive performance and high-temperature resistance. It has a small tendency to soften at high temperature and can be used for a long time at higher temperatures. It is mainly used for the skins and engines of commercial and military aircraft that often withstand high temperatures above 121 ℃.
The general resistance corrosion in 2024 is Class D. In addition to being used for structural parts of aircraft, this material is often used for truck wheels and screwdrivers.
Another application of 2024 aluminum sheet is the construction of large hydraulic manifolds. The fatigue resistance of this alloy makes it a viable candidate material due to the immense stresses and pressures exerted on the metal in the hydraulic system.
