2024 T3 VS T351 Aluminum Alloy

Since 2024 t351 aluminum alloy has not been cold worked, its plasticity is relatively good, which has advantages in some application scenarios where the material needs to be deformed greatly without cracking. At the same time, its toughness can also meet the use requirements of most structural parts, and it is not easy to brittle fracture when subjected to impact.

Dimensional stability and stress corrosion resistance

One of the biggest advantages of 2024-T351 aluminum alloy is its excellent dimensional stability. Through the stress relief process, the residual stress inside the material is greatly reduced, and the dimensional changes of the parts are minimal during subsequent processing and use. This makes the T351 state particularly suitable for applications with extremely high dimensional accuracy requirements.

In terms of stress corrosion resistance, 2024-T351 also performs better than 2024-T3 due to its lower residual stress. 2024 aluminum alloy itself has a high copper content and its corrosion resistance is relatively poor compared to other aluminum alloys, while the T351 state reduces the risk of stress corrosion cracking by reducing internal stress.
