Aircraft aluminum sheet is an ultra-high-strength deformed aluminum alloy, which is currently widely used in the aviation industry. It has good mechanical and processing properties, good plasticity after solution treatment, and good heat-treatment strengthening effect. Generally, it has high strength and good toughness below 150°C (or even higher). It is an ideal structural material.
Compared with common aluminum alloys, aluminum alloys used in aircraft have higher requirements for strength, hardness, toughness, fatigue resistance, and plasticity. Due to its light weight and remarkable lightweight effect, aviation aluminum has replaced steel and occupied the leading position of current aviation materials.
There are many kinds of aluminum alloys used on airplanes. Nowadays, the aluminum alloys used in aviation aircraft structures are 2xxx aluminum( 2024, 2017,2A12,etc.), 7xxx aluminum( 7075,7475, 7050, 7A04, etc.), and some 5xxx aluminum(5A06, 5052, 5086, etc.) and 6xxx aluminum( 6061 and 6082 aluminum),
The aircraft aluminum sheet is mainly used for wing skin, fuselage, fuselage girders, webs,main floor stringers, etc. There are some main kinds:
1. Duralumin: It is a kind of aluminum-magnesium-copper alloy. The typical one is 2024 aluminum plate, used to make fuselage skins, bulkheads, wing ribs, etc.
2. Super hard aluminum: It belongs to aluminum-zinc-magnesium-copper alloy. The typical one is 7075 aluminum sheet, used to make upper wing surface skins, beams, etc.
Anti-rust aluminum alloy: It is Alu-Mg alloy. The typical ones are 5A02, 5A06 and 5B05. They are used to make fuel tank and pipe line.
